Eyeing a new smartphone this year? Let’s see if you should include iPhone 11 in your option.
The iPhone 11 was first released in 2019, and it quickly became a fan favorite for its impressive camera, long battery life, and affordability compared to other models. In 2023, the iPhone 11 remain a popular option for those who want a reliable and functional smartphone without breaking the bank.
I’ve been using the iPhone 11 for almost two months now, and I can say that it is still good. However, there are some things you should consider buying this phone especially since most Android phones nowadays are also good enough compared to iPhone 11 in terms of hardware.
Camera
One of the standout features of the iPhone 11 is its camera system. Personally, I love its camera quality especially in shooting videos. It has a dual-camera setup with a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens.
In night mode, you will get more noisy photos compared to its successor, so do take note of that. But the camera system of the iPhone 11 is still impressive and can produce high-quality photos that rival some of the newer models.
Battery
The battery life of the iPhone 11 is another factor that continues to impress users. This device has a 3,110mAh battery capacity that supports up to 20W PD2.0 wired charging and wireless charging.
In 2019, Apple claimed that the iPhone 11 could last up to 17 hours of video playback, and in real-world usage, it has proven to be a reliable phone that can last all day without needing to be charged back in the day.
But now, I only get up to 4 hours of continuous usage, while half-day when I seldomly use it like just checking messages, little scrolling on social media, listening to music, and other usual tasks.
When it comes to charging, it takes a long time to charge especially when you only use a 5W adapter. I suggest investing in a 20W PD2.0 charger to enjoy faster charging time.
Performance
The iPhone 11 also has the A13 Bionic chip, which was a significant upgrade from previous models. It provides fast and smooth performance, allowing you to easily switch between apps and perform tasks quickly. In 2023, the A13 Bionic chip still holds up well and provides a snappy and reliable user experience.
This device is also capable of gaming, but it heats up quickly, so I do not recommend this phone when you want to play games for hours. Still, it can run the latest games smoothly like Mobile Legends, Wild Rift, Call of Duty Mobile, PUBG, and more. The temperature when gaming is the only big problem.
Display
In terms of display, the iPhone 11 has a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina display that is bright and clear. While newer models have thinner bezels and more advanced displays, the iPhone 11’s screen still holds up well in 2023 and provides an excellent viewing experience for streaming video or browsing the web.
Compared to the Pro and Pro Max variant, the iPhone 11 only comes with an IPS LCD panel instead of an OLED. If you have not yet experienced an OLED display, you may still enjoy iPhone 11’s display, but if yes, it is a downgrade.
When outdoors, you will find it hard to use it since its display only supports up to 625nits max brightness.
Price and availability
One of the most significant advantages of the iPhone 11 is its affordability since you can now get one(pre-owned) for only PHP 18,000. Compared to newer models such as the iPhone 12, the iPhone 11 is a much more affordable option that still provides reliable and functional performance. It’s an excellent choice for those who don’t want to spend a lot of money on a new phone but still want a device that can handle their everyday needs.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the iPhone 11 is still a great choice in 2023 for those who want a reliable and affordable smartphone. Its camera system, battery life, and performance are still impressive, and it provides a great user experience overall. While newer models may have more advanced features, the iPhone 11 remains a reliable and functional option for those who don’t want to break the bank.
But if you are like me that is a “heavy user”, I think you should consider getting the Pro or Pro Max models since they have a greater battery life, display, and have an additional 12MP telephoto lens. Honestly, I’m planning to sell my iPhone 11 to get a Pro or Pro Max because of those upgrades.
