In my recent personal vlog about the iPhone 11 Pro Max, I talked about why I switched from iPhone 11 to 11 Pro Max. Now, I’m going to tell you if this iPhone 11 Pro Max is still worth buying in 2023.

Using iPhone 11 Pro Max in 2023

The iPhone 11 Pro Max was announced in September 2019 as Apple’s flagship smartphone model. It featured a 6.5-inch OLED display, three cameras, a strong A13 Bionic processor, and a long-lasting battery.

Despite being expensive, it was favorably praised for its performance, design, and camera quality. But how does the iPhone 11 Pro Max do four years later, in 2023? Is it still worth buying or using it today?

    Camera

Let’s start with the camera because most of the people who buy iPhones today are looking for a camera. For me, it’s still worth buying because its camera quality is still relevant even though the camera has improved a lot in the latest iPhones.

Even though it is not the latest and almost 4 years have passed since it was released, its camera quality is still impressive. It was also worth more since the max resolution of its video is 4k@60fps which we rarely see on Android phones.

Besides, its telephoto lens is also very useful and I don’t regret switching to the Pro Max. I always use it because it is really good, especially if my subject is far away. If you also want to use this for vlogging, it’s also good since the front camera is a wide lens. These are just a few of our sample photos:

    Battery

Another good feature of this iPhone that I think is still good in 2023 is its battery. When you use an iPhone, its battery drains fast. And since this is a Pro Max variant, its battery life is longer.

This is also one of the reasons why I switched to the 11 Pro Max because it has a large 3,969mAh battery capacity that provides longer battery life compared to other iPhones. But of course, there are also Android phones with longer battery life. But mine’s battery life is good even though its battery health is only 83%. So far, it takes me a day before charging again.

As for charging, it only supports up to 20W wired fast charging, which is a bit slow. Since we are in the era of super-fast charging like 67W, 150W, or 200W, you should also consider that. But the advantage of this phone is that it supports wireless charging. The catch is, it only supports 7.5W so it takes longer to charge. But at least it supports wireless charging.

    Design and Display

The sleek and luxurious appearance of the iPhone 11 Pro Max will still look nice in 2023. It boasts a stainless-steel frame, a glass back, and a fingerprint and scratch-resistant matte surface. It is also water-resistant and dust-resistant, having an IP68 rating that allows it to survive in 4 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.

One of the nicest features of the iPhone 11 Pro Max is its display. It sports a 6.5-inch OLED screen with vibrant colors, contrast, and brightness. It supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision, which improve movie and video viewing experiences. True Tone technology, which changes the color temperature according to the ambient light, is also included.

However, in 2023, the display of the iPhone 11 Pro Max has certain downsides such as having a 60Hz screen refresh rate. A faster refresh rate makes the screen smoother and more responsive. Most phones today already feature a 90Hz refresh rate, while higher-end iPhones like iPhone 13 Pro now boast 120Hz.

The display also includes a notch at the top that contains the quick and secure Face ID mechanism. Plus, the quality of its speakers is also good, and it already has a dual speaker, so it’s good to watch or play on it.

    Performance

It has an A13 Bionic chip which delivers acceptable performance. Even though it is old, it can still run the apps and games that we usually use today. It’s just that it warms up quickly, which is normal in iPhones.

Maybe the last reason why it is still worth buying this 2023 is its software support. Even though it is almost 4 years old, it still receives iOS updates. It even supports iOS 17. I think it might receive 2 to 3 major updates, but we are not sure.

That’s it. For me, it can keep up in 2023. I have been using iPhone 11 Pro Max for more than 3 months, I can say that it is still worth buying this year. Unfortunately, no store now sells it brand new, but you can still buy pre-owned units. I think you can buy one for around PHP 24K to PHP 30K depending on the storage.

I also don’t have a recommended store where you can buy an iPhone 11 Pro Max because mine is from a trade-in.
