Apple just announced the all-new MacBook Pro 13” and MacBook Air with the latest Apple M2 chipset at the Worldwide Developers Conference.
First Macs to feature the new Apple M2 chip!
The latest Apple M2 chip comes with an 8-core CPU that consists of 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. It also comes with an 8 or 10-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, and 100GB/s unified memory bandwidth.
The M2 contains a Media Engine with hardware-accelerated H.264, HEVC, ProRes, and ProRes RAW, a Video encoding/decoding engine, and a ProRes encode and decode engine. Both the new MacBook Pro 13” and Air will feature this latest Apple M2.
Moreover, both laptops also arrived with up to 24GB of unified memory and up to 2TB SSD storage. But when it comes to battery life, the Pro has up to 20 hours, while the Air can only deliver up to 18 hours. The Air now comes with MagSafe 3 which the Pro lacks. However, they both support a 67W fast charging with a USB-C power adapter.
For the screen, the Air comes with a 13.6-inch IPS Liquid Retina Display, while the Pro 13” has a smaller 13.3-inch. Their screen both have 2560-by-1600 native resolution, 500nits max brightness, wide DCI-P3 Color gamut, and True Tone technology.
The new MacBook Air now boasts a 1080p FaceTime HD camera but the Pro 13” still has a 720p camera. Their cameras have an advanced image signal processor with computational video. They also have a three-mic array with directional beamforming which is good for your video conferences or audio recordings. Besides, the Air has a four-speaker sound system that supports Spacial Audio with Dolby Atmos.
Furthermore, they both have Touch ID, but the Pro 13” also has a Touch Bar which is useful for some users. Other of their features are two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Users will surely love these new laptops especially in using in content creation or software development. Having the new M2 silicon will unlock new experiences in a laptop about performance. These will be a great buy for this year or until the following years.
Price and availability
These new MacBooks will be available in the Philippines this July 2022. The price of the Air will start at PHP 69,990, and the Pro 13” will start at PHP 74,990.
