MediaTek has announced its new Kompanio 1380 processor, which provides a new level of performance and best-in-class features for premium Chromebooks.
MediaTek Kompanio 1380 is now official!
The Kompanio 1380 provides great portable computing experiences with long-lasting battery life, all in a tiny and lightweight form factor. This processor stands out for its exceptional processing performance, better multimedia and AI features, and seamless cloud gaming capabilities. Here are some of its key features:
Powerful processing: The Kompanio 1380 features an octa-core CPU with four high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores with speeds up to 3GHz for improved responsiveness. For gamers, its five-core Arm Mali-G57 GPU supports fast and vivid visuals, while the quad-channel 2133MHz LPDDR4X ensures there is plenty of data bandwidth.
MediaTek APU 3.0: This powerful multi-core AI processor accelerates AI-camera and AI-voice applications while also optimizing battery life. You can also see this feature in other Dimensity processors.
4K60 HDR Display Support: The chip also supports up to two 4K 60Hz displays, or one 4K 60Hz display and two 4K 30Hz displays. This gives manufacturers a wide range of resolution, performance, and external connectivity choices to meet any product design criteria.
AV1 Hardware Decoding: Because of the chip’s powerful decoding features, customers may stream 4K movies and TV programs at the highest quality settings. MediaTek also mentioned that even in heavy 4K streaming, it still gives longer battery life.
Voice Assistant Ready:The Kompanio 1380 also has a specialized audio digital signal processor (DSP) that offers an ultra-low-power voice on wakeup (VoW) features for a wide range of voice assistant services.
Ultra-fast Connectivity:This processor also supports Wi-Fi 6/6E and Bluetooth 5, allowing for the fastest wireless data transmission.
Availability
Manufacturers have frequently used MediaTek’s Kompanio processors to power the world’s most popular mobile computing devices, including Chromebook laptops and tablets. Additionally, Kompanio 1380-powered gadgets will be available on the market soon. However, MediaTek also announced one Chromebook that features this new Kompanio 1380, the Acer Chromebook Spin 513.
