OnePlus and OPPO will merge their OxygenOS and ColorOS into a unified operating system in 2022.
It was recently reported that the firm would have a closer connection with its sister company, OPPO. OnePlus is overhauling itself as it prepares to launch as an independent brand under Oppo. They planned to launch a unified operating system that is a merged OxygenOS and ColorOS.
OnePlus 2.0
As the company moves forward and ensures that everything works well, it has launched a new phase called OnePlus 2.0. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said that will first introduce the integrated OS with the launch of their next flagship series in 2022.
They will also roll out this new unified OS to existing OnePlus smartphones maybe next year. However, they have not specified which smartphone will get this major update. This is bad news for some OxygenOS enthusiasts since they killing it. But other fans consider it as a “change for the better”. Besides, the CEO has also confirmed that there will be no 9T or any T-series smartphone released this year.
“I would like to tell you confidently that after overseeing the product development of both systems for a year, I believe that the unified operating system will keep the DNA of OxygenOS that many of you love so much, while also giving you an upgraded experience overall,” said Lau.
To calm existing consumers’ fears, Lau stated that the firm will customize the new unified OS, particularly for OnePlus devices. He also indicated that the bootloaders of OnePlus phones will remain unlocked, which should alleviate fan fears.
Lau also gave additional information on their future product lineup. He said that “more affordable product ranges will become more localized,”. This is while they continue to sell premium and ultra-premium flagship smartphones across the world.
If we noticed, the company also started developing a premium camera experience last year. Some of their flagship smartphones already featured Hasselblad that has great camera technology. By next year, we can expect a much greater camera experience with their upcoming smartphones. Lastly, the company is now developing a camera with great user experience, color performance, and new technologies.
