OpenAI’s ChatGPT now has preliminary integration for plugins, which are specialized tools prioritizing safety as a fundamental principle. These plugins aid ChatGPT in obtaining current data, performing calculations, and utilizing third-party services.
What are ChatGPT plugins?
ChatGPT plugins are specialized tools created exclusively for language models, aimed at assisting ChatGPT in obtaining current data, performing calculations, and utilizing third-party services. These plugins are now integrated into ChatGPT Plus, enabling it to access live web data instead of relying solely on the information it was trained on.
The first plugins have been created by Expedia, FiscalNote, Instacart, KAYAK, Klarna, Milo, OpenTable, Shopify, Slack, Speak, Wolfram, and Zapier.
To utilize ChatGPT plugins, you must install the specific plugins you wish to use. These plugins work in tandem with ChatGPT, allowing the bot to take advantage of their tools automatically when you ask it a question. For instance, if you require a phrase in a foreign language, the bot will employ the Speak plugin to provide you with a suggestion.
OpenAI has currently opened up a waitlist for alpha access to plugins. Developers and ChatGPT Plus users will receive priority access before it is made available to the general public.
Can ChatGPT connect to the internet?
As a result of OpenAI’s plugin update, ChatGPT can now access the internet via a first-party web-browsing plugin. This allows the AI chatbot to obtain information from the web, something that was not possible previously, as it only had knowledge of events up until September 2021. The Bing API is used to facilitate ChatGPT’s access to information from the web following this new update.
