Last month, realme released their new number series, the realme 12 Series 5G, and we are fortunate to be able to try the realme 12+ 5G. Now they announced their latest addition to this series, the realme 12 5G.

They sent us a review unit to test and see if it is worth your money, so in this article, we will first unbox it and share with you my first impressions.

    Unboxing Experience

Like its bigger brothers, the realme 12 5G also comes with a yellow box with “12” branding at the front. When you open it, it also has a yellow carton with a SIM ejector tool, documentation, and jelly case. Then under it is the unit itself as well as the USB-C cable and 45W SUPERVOOC charging adapter.

    Design and Build Quality

The realme 12 5G mimics the design of other models in the series which is the trendy watch design making it look more premium even if it is just the vanilla variant. It means, its back also has a polished sunburst dial, a 3D jubilee bracelet, and polished PVD edges.

As for the texture, this device now comes with a plastic matte finish back, instead of leather. For me it’s beautiful and it’s not a smudge magnet either. I’m not a fan of flat sides, but it’s very comfortable to hold, especially since its thickness is only 7.69mm. By the way, it is available in Twilight Purple and Woodland Green colorways.

The smudge magnet is only on the sides since the material seems to be reflective or glass-like, so I suggest you use the included jelly case.

realme 12 5G input and output

For the input and output, the left side of this phone is empty, while we can locate on the right side the volume rockers and power button that also acts as a fingerprint scanner. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom, alongside the microphone, USB-C port, and speaker. At the top is the hybrid SIM tray, secondary speaker, and another microphone.

The realme 12 5G also has a large circular camera island that encases the 108MP main camera that offers up to 3x zoom, and a 2MP portrait lens. At the front, it only has an 8MP selfie shooter. I have already tested this phone for taking pictures and we will discuss further in our full review.

In front of it is its large 6.72-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 950nits max brightness.

    What’s inside the realme 12 5G?

We can expect good performance here in realme 12 5G because of its good hardware. It already features a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ octa-core chipset coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The good thing about it is that it already runs realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14 so you can enjoy the latest features.

The realme 12 5G also has a large 5,000mAh battery capacity and supports 45W SUPERVOOC charging. It’s good that even though it’s only a vanilla variant, it still has fast charging support.

As of now, I am doing some benchmarks and testing on this phone. Let’s see if it is enough and worth buying although we don’t know its pricing and availability yet.

If there’s something you want me to test here on this phone, just comment it down. Stay tuned to our full review!
