Apple has announced Siri AI, an entirely new version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence. The new assistant introduces a more conversational experience, deeper integration across Apple’s ecosystem, and the ability to understand personal context, onscreen content, and real-world information.

According to Apple, Siri AI can help users find information across messages, emails, photos, and apps while also answering questions using up-to-date information from the web. The assistant will be available for developer testing starting today, with a beta release scheduled for later this year.

“We’re excited to introduce Siri AI, a dramatically more capable and conversational assistant designed to help users find information and get things done throughout the day,”

Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering

“With access to broad world knowledge for up-to-date answers on virtually any topic, along with onscreen awareness and personal context understanding, Siri AI can help users take action across apps more naturally than ever.”

A More Personal and Context-Aware Siri

At the core of Siri AI is Apple’s next-generation Apple Intelligence platform, which enables the assistant to understand personal context and retrieve information across multiple apps.

    Personal Context

Users can ask Siri AI to locate a restaurant recommendation shared in Messages, find a hotel booking confirmation from an old email, or surface photos from a recent trip. The feature can also extend to supported third-party apps through Spotlight integration.

Siri AI can also understand what’s currently displayed on screen. For example, users can ask questions about a message, image, webpage, or document without manually switching between apps. It can now let users draft an email, edit photos, or even help users to brainstorm ideas quickly.

Beyond personal information, Siri AI can pull real-time information from the web and answer questions on topics ranging from travel and events to science, entertainment, and local activities.

    Integrated Across Apple’s Devices

Apple has also integrated Siri AI throughout its ecosystem.

On iPhone, users can activate Siri using “Hey Siri,” the side button, or by swiping down from the Dynamic Island to begin a conversation. On Mac and iPad, Siri AI is integrated directly into Spotlight and system context menus, allowing users to ask questions about files, images, and text.

iPhone users can swipe down from the Dynamic Island to start a conversation with Siri AI and get an in-depth answer.

Apple Vision Pro also gains a dedicated 3D Siri experience that users can place within their environment and activate simply by looking at it and speaking.

The assistant is also available across Apple Watch, CarPlay, and AirPods, making it easier to continue conversations while on the move.

New Siri App and Conversation History

Apple is introducing a dedicated Siri app that allows users to revisit previous conversations and continue them across devices.

Conversation history syncs privately through iCloud, enabling users to start a discussion on one device and pick it up later on another without losing context.

    Visual Intelligence Expands Beyond iPhone

Apple is also expanding Visual Intelligence, bringing image understanding capabilities to more devices.

On iPhone, a new Siri mode inside the Camera app allows users to point their camera at objects and receive information or perform actions based on what they see. Examples include identifying items, getting nutritional information about food, and learning more about objects in their surroundings.

Visual Intelligence is also coming to iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro. Users can ask questions about screenshots, files, app content, and physical objects, allowing Siri to understand both digital and real-world environments better.

    Writing Tools and Improved Dictation

Siri AI introduces upgraded Writing Tools that can generate drafts, rewrite content, and provide editing suggestions across supported apps.

Users can describe what they want to write, and Siri can generate content from scratch or refine existing text. The assistant can also adapt its writing style based on how users typically communicate with different contacts.

Apple has also improved systemwide dictation. Siri AI can automatically handle punctuation, capitalization, and formatting when converting speech to text, with greater accuracy.

    Privacy Remains a Key Focus

Apple says Siri AI has been rebuilt with privacy at its core.

The assistant uses a combination of on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute. When cloud processing is required, Apple states that user data is not stored or made accessible to the company.

Many core capabilities, including Spotlight indexing and app-related functions, continue to run directly on the device to help keep personal information private.

    Availability

Siri AI is now available for developer testing across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and visionOS 27, with watchOS support arriving in a future beta.

The feature will launch as a public beta later this year for supported devices set to English, with additional languages planned afterward.

    Supported hardware includes the following:

    • iPhone 16 models and later
    • iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
    • iPads
    • Macs powered by Apple silicon
    • Apple Vision Pro
    • Selected Apple Watch models when paired with a compatible iPhone.
