To achieve this goal, the university has formed a relationship with Altair, a leading provider of simulation-driven design, data analytics & AI, and high-performance computing solutions.

The University of the Visayas has set out on a clear mission to produce graduates of the highest caliber, ready to make significant contributions to the industry and national development through employment in the private and public sectors or as entrepreneurs, in light of the rapid advancements in higher education and technology.

“The University of the Visayas chose to work with Altair in setting up their Centre of Excellence in the Cebu region due to its progressive mindset and is keen to include breakthrough technologies to modernize their curriculum,” said Srirangam Sri Rangarajan, Managing Director of Altair, ASEAN, and ANZ.

University of the Visayas President, Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr., and Altair's Managing Director for the ASEAN & ANZ regions, Srirangam Srirangarajan, seal their partnership with a handshake during a press conference.

Additionally, he stated that they intend to expose all university students through their MOU, particularly engineering, architecture, and science majors and those who want to work in the fields of design simulation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, high-performance computing, electrification, and the internet of things.

“The university will also be acting as a catalyst for conducting advanced certification programs for practicing engineers who are keen to build on their skillsets and adopt trending technologies.” He added.

The university’s partnership with a highly respected technology company is part of a real-world, forward-thinking approach to education that also aims to continuously upgrade the knowledge and skills of its educators and researchers to be in line with industry best practices in their respective fields.

Students who enroll in the intensive certification program offered by the Centre of Excellence will participate in training sessions, workshops, seminars, forums, and conferences led by faculty members and Altair technology specialists with experience in the relevant industries.

In order to simulate the experience of working in a competitive, intellectually challenging setting, the Center will also require students to participate in publishing research articles, incubation projects, and student contests.
