Goodbye YouTube Vanced
YouTube Premium is the official way to stream videos without ads which helps content creators to earn more. However, some of us do not afford its subscription, luckily, there’s Vanced YouTube.
Vanced YouTube is a popular third-party YouTube software for Android. This app allows users to eliminate all video advertising on YouTube without purchasing a Premium membership. Vanced also features a genuine black theme as well as customizations not available in the original YouTube for Android app.
Today, Vanced tweeted that the app has been discontinued. “In the coming days, the download links on the website will be taken down. We know this is not something you wanted to hear but it’s something we need to do.” They added.
The developer said in the Vanced Telegram channel that it was “done due to legal issues” while a Reddit comment adds that they “had to do it”.
Google recently gave the Vanced owners a cease-and-desist order, forcing the developers to stop distributing and developing the software.
There will be no further improvements, and the download URLs will be withdrawn “in the coming days.” It’s unclear whether YouTube will take any action to restrict existing usage/access. For the short while, the Discord server, Telegram chat, and subreddit will remain active.
Moreover, they also tweeted that the versions that are currently installed will function perfectly until they become outdated in around two years. Vanced also suggested people subscribe to YouTube Premium services.
In addition, the price of a YouTube Premium subscription is PHP 159 or USD 3.20 monthly for individual membership. While the Family Plan will cost you PHP 239 or USD 5 monthly.
YouTube Premium will not only allow you to watch ad-free videos but also allow you to download offline videos. It also allows you to play videos in the background, watch YouTube Originals, and enjoy YouTube Music Premium.
