Unboxing Experience and Accessories
The vivo Y27s with a box that is just like other vivo Y series smartphones. We can see inside it the vivo Y27s, some documentation, jelly case, SIM ejector tool, USB-C cable, and the 44W Flash Charge adapter.
Design and Build Quality
One of the things you will like here is its shimmering design which is very eye-catching especially when you tilt the phone. The back of this phone is not a smudge magnet since it has a matte texture, a good thing for those who have sweaty hands like me.
I’m also more impressed with its camera island compared to its predecessor, the vivo Y27 because it looks similar to the vivo Y35 that we also tested. This phone is available in Burgundy Black and Garden Green colorways.
Even though the back and sides are only plastic, it still looks sturdy and premium to hold. It’s also worth mentioning that it has IP54 dust & water resistance, but that doesn’t mean you can submerge it in water. I’m seeing posts from other tech reviewers about this right now, so just take note of that.
For input and output, the volume rocker and power button/fingerprint scanner are on the right, then the 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, USB-C port, and speaker grill are on the bottom. At the top, we can see his dedicated SIM tray as well as another microphone.
Display and Multimedia
Another upgrade here is its display. It still has the same size and resolution as its predecessor with a 6.64-inch IPS LCD display and FHD+ resolution, but now features a 90Hz refresh rate. What is your opinion on this? Drop your comment!
It supports up to 650nits max brightness, so it is not too difficult to view the screen when you are outdoors.
So far, the colors it produces are good because it has a 100% NTSC color gamut. It is also enjoyable to watch videos on this phone because its display is crisp and high quality even though it is only an IPS LCD but do take note that it does not have a great viewing angle.
But it would have been better if this vivo Y27s had an AMOLED panel because its price is already at PHP 9,999.
When it comes to performance, from 12nm MediaTek Helio G85, it has been upgraded to 6nm Snapdragon 680. Their difference in performance is not that big, but in terms of support and efficiency, the Snapdragon 680 is better. But vivo could have used a Snapdragon 720G or Helio G99 here to give more powerful and better performance.
My experience here is also fine because the OS of this vivo Y27s is not that heavy which is Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13. Its software and apps are very optimized so the experience is also smooth.
Expect seamless multitasking in this phone as it is equipped with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS2.2 internal storage. It also supports a RAM expansion feature that can provide additional up to 8GB Virtual RAM.
Since it has a Snapdragon 680 processor, it is stable enough to play Mobile Legends and Call of Duty Mobile. I haven’t tried the Farlight 84, but for sure it’s smooth here on the vivo Y27s.
We also tried benchmarking and it got 336K+ AnTuTu benchmark, while 6,988 in PCMark benchmark.
Moving on to its camera, its camera system is still the same because it has a 50MP main shooter plus a 2MP depth sensor for the rear camera setup, while 8MP is for the selfie.
The image quality we got is decent, although it’s not that sharp since it’s only 50MP. I also have a phone here with 108MP, but I still liked the vivo Y27s camera better due to its wide dynamic range. It also lacked a bit of color saturation but overall, it is good enough.
It’s also just right to make a video here on the vivo Y27s because it can shoot up to 1080p@30fps. If you want 60fps, only 720p@60fps is available. This phone also has ultra-steady mode but only in the rear camera. These are our sample photos and videos:
Perhaps one of the best features that I liked in the vivo Y27s is its battery. Because the chipset used by vivo in this phone is very efficient, expect a long-lasting battery life. In the PCMark benchmark, it got an 18-hour and 30 minutes battery benchmark.
I can say that this phone has the longest battery life among the phones I have reviewed. Apart from the efficient chipset, the optimization of Funtouch OS 13 is also good, because it’s really hardware and software when it comes to battery life.
But if your phone runs out of juice, it supports 44W Flash Charge so your phone can be fully charged quickly. I tried to charge it from 20-100% and it only took about 1 hour. That’s already fast for this price category.
For our verdict, I can say that this vivo Y27s is also good because it is already snappy. It also has more than enough features. Although it is a bit expensive at the price of PHP 9,999, so I suggest that you only buy it when it is on sale or there is a promo.
Besides, if you are really a vivo fan, you will not be disappointed with this phone. It’s also fine for users who are just casual gamers and focus more on other tasks like social media, entertainment, and communication. You should also consider this phone if you want a phone that has a long battery life.
