nubia Philippines officially launched the new nubia Neo 5 Series last March 28, 2026. We attended the event and saw firsthand how nubia is committed to leveling up the mobile gaming experience through its latest offerings. We’ve been using the nubia Neo 5 GT for a few weeks now, and here’s our experience with the device.
Check out our nubia Neo 5 GT first impressions article here.

Performance
The nubia Neo 5 GT delivers strong performance, especially for gaming. It is powered by a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7400 octa-core chipset, which handles resource-heavy games like Genshin Impact with ease, although I still encountered occasional frame drops.
Its built-in active cooling fan, combined with a larger vapor chamber cooling system, helps maintain performance stability even during extended gaming sessions.
In terms of temperature, the device still gets warm, especially in hot environments like summer, but not as much as other phones. This makes it more comfortable for long gaming sessions, particularly for users with sweaty hands like me.

The shoulder triggers are also very useful, especially in first-person shooter games like Call of Duty Mobile. They are customizable, so you can also use them for other titles like Mobile Legends.
Beyond gaming, the phone performs well for casual use. With its capable chipset, tasks like social media browsing, productivity, and web browsing feel smooth and responsive. It also scored high in our benchmarks, getting 1,067,690 in AnTuTu and 14,142 in PCMark Work 3.0.
On the software side, the nubia Neo 5 GT runs MyOS 16 based on Android 16, which feels smooth overall. While there is no clear information yet on long-term software support, I have already received two updates within my first month of use.

Display
Another highlight that enhances the gaming experience is its high-quality display. The nubia Neo 5 GT features a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and a 3,048Hz touch sampling rate, delivering a sharp and fluid experience.
At this price point, the 144Hz refresh rate is a big win since it is still uncommon in this segment. It performs consistently well and is also future-ready, as more games begin to support higher refresh rates.
The screen is sharp and does not feel cheap at all. Thanks to the AMOLED panel, colors are vibrant and brightness is excellent. With up to 4,500 nits peak brightness, visibility remains clear even outdoors under direct sunlight.
It also has slim bezels, which improves the overall viewing experience whether you are gaming or watching videos.

Battery
Battery life is another strong point of the nubia Neo 5 GT. It packs a large 6,210mAh dual-cell battery that can last a full day depending on usage.
In my test, playing Genshin Impact on medium to high settings, with 70 percent brightness and the fan at max speed, the phone lasted around 4 to 5 hours. That is a solid result for a demanding game. You can expect even longer playtime with lighter titles like Mobile Legends or Call of Duty Mobile.
It also supports bypass charging, which is very useful for gaming while plugged in.
For charging, the device supports 80W wired fast charging, which can fully charge the phone in under two hours.

Camera
While the nubia Neo 5 GT is clearly a gaming-focused phone, it still delivers decent camera performance. Just do not expect flagship-level results.
Photos are generally vibrant, detailed, and sharp in good lighting conditions, but quality drops when lighting becomes challenging.

Verdict
The nubia Neo 5 GT is one of the best options for gaming at its price point. It stands out as an affordable gaming phone that delivers solid performance, supported by its built-in fan, improved cooling system, and shoulder triggers. Its display also feels premium for the price, especially with the inclusion of a 144Hz refresh rate.
Overall, this is an easy recommendation for gamers or anyone looking for a powerful gaming-centric smartphone without spending too much.
