Aside from the iPhone 18 Pro Series, Apple also launched its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo.
When opened, the iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner display, making it the thinnest iPhone ever and providing a larger canvas for content, gaming, and multitasking.
When closed, it has a 5.4-inch outer display that provides 90% of the screen area of the iPhone 18 Pro. Both displays share the same aspect ratio for a more consistent experience.
The iPhone Duo uses grade 5 titanium with a mirror-polished finish and comes in Star White and Night Sky. It also features a precision hinge with more than 100 components, Ceramic Shield 2, and an IP68 rating for splash, water, and dust resistance. It comes in Star White and Night Sky
For cameras, it has a 48MP Fusion Main camera with a 2x Telephoto and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera.
The folding design also enables new features such as Smart Take, which uses on-device AI to capture photos when subjects are ready, and Duo Preview, which lets users see the camera preview on the outer display. It also supports Dual Capture in FaceTime and 4K 120fps Dolby Vision video recording.
The iPhone Duo runs iOS 27, which introduces new ways to use the larger inner display. Users can open two apps side by side with Split View, while the Dynamic Island has been redesigned for the foldable form factor. StandBy can also work on either display, even when the device is not charging.
The device is powered by the 2nm A20 Pro chip, featuring a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU, and Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple also added a custom vapor chamber for improved thermal management, delivering up to 35% better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro.
For battery life, Apple says the iPhone Duo can provide up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display and up to 44 hours on the outer display. It can also charge up to 50% in around 20 minutes, while wireless charging can reach 50% in around 30 minutes.
The iPhone Duo also comes with Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI, which can use personal context and onscreen awareness to help users perform different tasks.
Thoughts
The iPhone Duo is a major change for Apple as its first foldable iPhone. Its large 7.6-inch inner display, compact outer display, and A20 Pro chipset offer a different experience compared to the regular iPhone 18 Pro models.
The foldable design also brings new ways to use the camera, multitask, and interact with iOS 27. However, it comes with a very high starting price, making it a premium foldable focused on performance, durability, and productivity.
Pricing and Availability
The iPhone Duo starts at PHP 159,990 in the Philippines. However, we don’t have details yet on its local availability.
In the US, pre-orders begin October 16, with availability starting October 23.
