Valve announced in September 2022 that it was dropping the Lunar New Year sale and adding a big new Spring Sale in its place, giving it one major sale for each of the four seasons. But it’s not leaving gamers hanging completely in the January doldrums: The Lunar New Year Sale is gone, but the Chinese New Year Sale is now underway.
The Chinese New Year Sale focuses, as you’d expect, on game developers and publishers in China. It’s a smaller scale event than the previous Lunar New Year sales, but there’s still a lot of good stuff to look through. A few thoughts to get the ball rolling:
Sword and Fairy 7 – ₱770.66 (30% off)
FIST: Forged in Shadow Tech – ₱539.99 (40% off)
Lost Castle – ₱127.98 (60% off)
Sands of Salzaar – ₱ (60% off)
Three Kingdoms: The Last Warlord – ₱ (70% off)
Shio – ₱143.98 (60% off)
Last Day of June – ₱124.98 (75% off)
MUSYNX – ₱38.98 (70% off)
Shanghai Office Simulator – ₱203.47 (45% off)
Aside from the games above, Steam also offers three different East Meets West bundles, each including indie games of a certain genre, such as Mortal Shell, The Ascent, Crown Trick, Cat Quest, The Entropy Centre, and more. You can pick up each one of these bundles for less than $70. Each bundle includes at least 6 games.
The Steam Chinese New Year Sale page also very conveniently includes links to separate, publisher-specific sales: The Xbox Game Studios Lunar Sale, the Bandai Namco Entertainment Lunar New Year Sale, the Electronic Arts Lunar New Year Sale, the Capcom Lunar New Year Sale, the Rockstar Games Publisher Sale, the Sega Lunar Sale, and the more indie-focused Curve Games East Meets West Game Fest.
The Chinese New Year 2023 sale is expected to run until the end of this month, though the promotional offer on some titles expires earlier.
