Just last month we tried the TECNO POVA 5 and now this Pro version has been released. Today, join me in unboxing this TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5G and I will share with you my first impressions. Â
It is now available on Shopee and Lazada at an introductory price of PHP 9,999. But its original price is PHP 10,999, so buy it while it still has a discount. There are many upgrades to this phone like the chipset, front camera, charging speed, and design, so let’s check!Â
Unboxing the new TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5GÂ
Like the TECNO POVA 5, its box is also a triangle, and the unboxing experience is still the same. Included in its box is our TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5G, FreeFire stickers and vouchers, documentation, jelly case, sim ejector pin, wired earphones, USB Type-C cable, and of course its 68W power brick.Â
If you guys can see, it’s still a mecha design and it looks really cool. It still looks a bit like the TECNO POVA 5 but it has a backlight on the back, and they call its design Turbo Light Mecha Design.Â
For me, its backlight is unique and may be useful for some scenarios. It can light up when you have an incoming call, a notification, at startup, when you’re listening to music, when you’re playing games, and when your phone’s battery life is below 20%.Â
It’s just that its light might be more noticeable if you buy the Dark Illusion colorway because it has 2 available colorways; Dark Illusion and Silver Fantasy. And this one we have is the Silver Fantasy. The only thing I don’t like about its design is that it is still glossy or its back is like glass similar to the TECNO POVA 5, that’s why it is also a fingerprint and smudge magnet.
As for the input and output of this phone, we can see the dedicated SIM tray on the left side, while the volume rockers and power button/fingerprint scanner are on the right side. Its secondary speaker is at the top and we can see the 3.5mm audio jack, microphone, USB Type-C port, and its main stereo speaker at the bottom.Â
In front of it is its 6.78-inch IPS LCD screen with FHD+ resolution and supports 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and up to 580nits max brightness. So far, its display is good, it’s high quality and I haven’t encountered any issues with its 120Hz refresh rate unlike the POVA 5.Â
Its rear camera setup is still the same, it still consists of a 50MP main shooter and AI lens, while the front has a 16MP selfie camera instead of 8MP.Â
What’s inside the device?Â
Then for the hardware, the chipset used here is the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6080 so this phone is 5G-ready. It also comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage and it also supports MemFusion that can allocate up to 8GB Virtual RAM. As for its OS, it runs HiOS 13 based on Android 13.Â
As for the battery, its capacity has been downgraded a bit because instead of 6000mah battery capacity, TECNO used only 5000mah here. But the good news is, it charges faster since instead of 45W Ultra Charge, it supports 68W Ultra Charge and for sure it charges very fast.
This new TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5G has decent specs and design. So far, all I can say is that this phone is fine for its price. We will find out in our full review if this new phone is worth it.
