With enough capacity to charge not only your phones and laptops but also small appliances and essential devices, the AC70 proves itself as a compact and reliable power solution. We’re glad to have the chance to test it out, as BLUETTI reached out to us and sent their AC70 for review.
The BLUETTI AC70 highlights a 1,000W continuous power, 768Wh capacity, up to 950W turbo charging, 500W fast solar intake, 7 outlets, and more.
Design & Build Quality
For its design, the BLUETTI AC70 has a straightforward, compact plastic body weighing only 10.2kg. Its dimensions are 314mm (L) x 209.5mm (W) x 255.8mm (D). It is only available in a dark gray colorway with curved corners and some patterns at the lower half.
Even though it has a plastic body, it still has good build quality, but of course, avoid dropping it and be extra careful when carrying it.
It has a built-in handle that makes the unit easy to carry, although I’m not a fan of its placement. I wish it were positioned at the top center so it would be balanced when lifted.
It also has a small LCD screen where you can monitor its power input, power output, battery percentage, estimated operating hours, as well as other important info.
Ports & Connectivity
The BLUETTI AC70 features two USB-C ports that support up to 100W output, perfect for fast charging phones and laptops. It also has two USB-A ports that only deliver 12W power, just enough if you have devices that only support 12W like old smartphones or some low-powered lighting. For other appliances, you can use its two AC outputs.
Meanwhile, there’s also a 12V/24V cigarette lighter port, so you can charge this power station in your car during your trip. It also has a DC input supporting up to 500W max input. You can use the DC input with a solar panel that is sold separately.
For connectors, it comes with an AC charging cable, a car charging cable, and a solar charging cable.
According to BLUETTI, you can also buy optional accessories on its official website such as a USB-C to USB-C cable, lead-acid battery charger, lead-acid battery charging cable kit, battery connection cable for power bank mode, and many more.
Battery Capacity & Performance
In real-world usage, the BLUETTI AC70 performs as expected, providing sufficient power to charge and run our devices. It also handled loads slightly above 1,000W without issue, thanks to its 2,000W Power Lifting Mode. However, it’s still recommended to stay within the 1,000W limit for optimal use.
That said, we find the 768Wh capacity lacking if you’re using it with high-wattage devices like an induction cooker, microwave, or fridge. Of course, it still depends on your usage, but if you’re just using it for camping with low-wattage devices like fans, camping lights, and an electric air pump, the 768Wh is already enough.
For reliability and safety, the portable power station is equipped with a LiFePO4 battery, which can retain 80% capacity even after 3,000+ charge cycles. It also comes with an intelligent Battery Management System (BMS) that prevents potential damage. To give users peace of mind, BLUETTI includes a 5-year warranty on this device.
I also tested it as a UPS for my desktop computer, operating between 150W and 300W depending on the workload. The UPS capability is particularly beneficial for remote professionals in areas with an unstable power supply, as it helps prevent data loss and software corruption during unexpected outages.
The BLUETTI AC70 also has an exhaust fan that turns on when charging or under heavy load to avoid overheating.
Speaking of charging, this power station supports three modes: Silent (290W), Standard (450W), and Turbo (950W). In terms of charging time, Silent mode takes almost 3 hours, Standard mode takes around 2 hours, and Turbo mode finishes in just about 1 hour. According to the brand, Turbo mode can even charge the unit from 0 to 80% in just 45 minutes.
I’m curious about its solar charging capability, but unfortunately, we don’t have a solar kit. Hopefully, we can get one soon because we’d also like to try it out for camping.
Software
The BLUETTI AC70 also has downloadable software, the BLUETTI app, which you can get on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
In this app, you can monitor the battery percentage, wattage, and grid/charging info. You can also toggle some settings like turning the AC and DC on or off, changing the charging mode, enabling Power Lifting Mode, and upgrading the firmware. The app is beginner-friendly and not complicated to use.
Verdict
The BLUETTI AC70 delivers reliable performance with its 1,000W output, multiple charging modes, and smart app support, making it a solid choice for camping, remote work, or emergency backup. While its 768Wh capacity may feel limited for heavy-duty appliances, it’s more than enough for everyday essentials. Add in the durable build, LiFePO₄ battery, and 5-year warranty, and the AC70 stands out as a dependable, future-ready portable power station.
