One of the useful video conferencing applications, Google Meet, made their premium features free on all who have Gmail this April 2020. However, this free premium feature will end after September 30 and set a 60-minute limit per session in their free plan users.
In recent days, Google Meet’s product manager, Samir Pradhan, said that they decide to continue unlimited Meet calls (though it is just up to 24 hours) in the free version until March 31, 2021. Also, this is good news to those companies, schools, and organizations that use Google Meet as their mode of online meeting.
Samir Pradhan stated in his blog post “As we look ahead to a holiday season with less travel and important milestones like family reunions, PTA meetings and weddings hosted over video, we want to continue helping those who rely on Meet to stay in touch over the coming months. As a sign of our commitment, today we’re continuing unlimited Meet calls (up to 24 hours) in the free version through March 31, 2021 for Gmail accounts.”

They’ve also added a lot of features to Meet to make connecting more fun and more productive. One of the new features allows you to see 49 people, including yourself, and you can cast your calls to your TV. Now, you don’t have to worry about your messy background because Meet now has the background blur effect. And to those using it in the online class, you can now have a collaborative digital whiteboard.

Unfortunately, the free access to premium features for G Suite and G Suite for Education is not extended. Google confirmed to The Verge.
