Today, Samsung unveiled its newest and highly anticipated Galaxy Z Series lineup, consisting of foldable devices designed to cater to a wider range of users and preferences.
Included in the lineup is the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, a foldable smartphone with an interesting and exciting shape. Samsung placed a strong emphasis on one thing: making the foldable experience feel more natural for everyday use. With that in mind, could this shape the next era of foldable smartphones?
Built Around Users’ Everyday Activities
Rather than simply making the device thinner or lighter, the company focused on how people actually use their phones throughout the day.
From quickly replying to messages to watching movies, reading articles, or playing games, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is designed so users can be comfortably productive.
One of the biggest highlights is that it is now Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet, weighing just 201 grams. Despite its slimmer and lighter build, the device still packs plenty of power with the 4,800mAh battery, 45W wired charging, Android 17, One UI 9, and a Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.
Instead of only talking about the screen size of 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED for the main screen and 5.5-inch for the cover display, Samsung also explained how the Z Fold8’s different display ratios are designed for different types of content.
When folded, the 10:16 cover display feels familiar since it’s similar to using a conventional smartphone, making it comfortable for quick tasks like messaging, browsing, and social media.
When unfolded, the larger 4:3 main display feels almost like an instant tablet, making it better suited for watching videos, multitasking, and reading.
According to Samsung, the goal is to make the Galaxy Z Fold8 adapt naturally to what users are doing instead of forcing them to adjust to the device, and I believe that goal was well executed.
New Flex Titanium Structure
Another major announcement was Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology, which serves as the phone’s internal display structure. This helps improve durability by strengthening the display, reducing the visibility of the crease over time, while still keeping the device thin and lightweight.
Samsung also says the new structure absorbs pressure and impacts better while providing a smoother unfolding experience.
For outdoor visibility, the main display reaches up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness and comes with Vision Booster and a low-reflection finish for better readability even under bright conditions.
Camera Features
Alongside these upgrades, Samsung also highlighted the camera features, including its dual 50MP rear cameras for high-resolution shots across both the main and ultra-wide lenses. It also houses a 10MP camera for the cover display and main screen.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 also supports Dual Recording and introduces My FanCam, which automatically tracks a selected subject and reframes videos into social media-friendly aspect ratios. Users can now take this off their manual editing task list.
Price and Availability
Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold8 is now available for pre-order through Samsung’s official website starting today, July 22, 2026. It is available in the following variants and in the colors Graphite, Cream, and Lavender. There is also an online-exclusive color, Pistachio.

Additional Inclusions
Samsung also highlighted its continued focus on security and privacy across the new Galaxy Z series.
The foldables are protected by Samsung Knox, with additional features such as the Personal Data Engine (PDE), Knox Vault, and the new AI Assistant Activity dashboard, giving users more transparency and control over how AI accesses and processes personal data. One UI 9 also introduces proactive Privacy Alerts that notify users of potential privacy risks before they become an issue.
Samsung also announced improvements to Smart Switch, making it easier for users coming from both Android and iPhone.
The updated tool now supports wireless transfers using a QR code and can migrate additional data such as passwords, call history, accessibility settings, and even eSIM information. Quick Share has also gained better compatibility with AirDrop, making file transfers between Galaxy and iPhone devices much more seamless.
For added peace of mind, Samsung continues to offer Samsung Care+, which covers accidental damage, repairs, warranty support, and expert assistance.
The new One UI 9 also introduces a dedicated Warranty and Care section, allowing users to manage Samsung Care+, request repairs, run diagnostics, and access support directly from their device.
