In case you missed it, nubia Philippines launched its new entry-level smartphone in January 2026, the nubia V80 Max. They sent us a review unit to find out if it is still worth considering, especially now that smartphone prices are steadily increasing.
We have been testing it for almost a month, and here is our full review of the device. You can also check out our unboxing video on our Facebook page.

Design
Let us start with the design. The nubia V80 Max features an elegant aesthetic, with a camera layout that resembles a well-known flagship smartphone.
It comes with a flat aluminum frame and a matte-finished plastic back. The available color options include Space Black, Sky Cyan, Aurelia Gold, Stellar Silver, and Stardust Purple.
Despite its large size, the phone feels lightweight at just 191g and measures 8.3mm thick. It also features an IP64 dust and water resistance rating, along with up to 1.8 meters of drop resistance, giving users added confidence in its durability.

Display and Multimedia Experience
When it comes to the display, the nubia V80 Max delivers a good visual experience thanks to its large 6.9-inch screen with HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 780 nits of peak brightness.
For its price, the display is already acceptable, especially if you will mainly use it for web browsing and social media. Just keep your expectations in check when it comes to color quality since it uses an LCD panel. That said, the high refresh rate remains stable and noticeably smooth, particularly during gaming.

Camera
We recently took the nubia V80 Max for a photowalk in BGC, and its image quality genuinely surprised us. We initially underestimated it since it is a budget phone, but the results showed decent detail, color accuracy, sharpness, and dynamic range.
The front camera also delivers good-quality selfies, especially in portrait mode. For video, expectations should be tempered as stabilization is not its strong suit. However, it can shoot up to 1080p at 30fps, which is acceptable for its price range.

Performance
In terms of performance, the nubia V80 Max offers enough power for casual usage and light gaming. It is powered by a 12nm Unisoc T7250 octa-core processor paired with a Mali-G57 MP1 GPU.

For us, its performance is best suited for students and everyday users, handling tasks like document editing, online learning, light gaming, and general productivity. The device also comes with up to 8GB of RAM, which helps with multitasking.
On benchmarks, it scored 375,411 on AnTuTu and 10,110 on PCMark Work 3.0. These numbers translate to decent entry-level performance.
Battery and Charging
The nubia V80 Max packs a large 6,000mAh battery and supports 22.5W fast charging. In our usage, mainly social media browsing, light gaming, and web surfing, it easily lasted a full day.
Charging does take some time, with a full charge taking close to two hours, which is expected given the large battery and modest charging speed. nubia also claims that the battery can maintain its health for up to four years.

Verdict
With smartphone prices increasing due to rising RAM and storage costs, the nubia V80 Max stands out as a practical and budget-friendly option.
That said, it remains an entry-level device. We recommend it for students, parents, grandparents, or anyone looking for a reliable backup phone. If you need more power, you may want to explore other nubia devices, such as the nubia Neo 5 Series.
